I, Robot or Skynet?

Google has been quite the busy beaver the past couple years.  Several robotic companies, several new software, gesture recognition software, home automation equipment, and traffic software.
To be perfectly honest, this tech in googles hands is frightening.  This tech in anybodies hand is frightening.  When any one company or entity starts buying up related tech like this, one begins to wonder what exactly for?  Are they going to push for an I Robot type of environement where Robots are everywhere, taking care of humans?  Or will something go wrong and we end up with skynet or Hal becoming a reality?

The majority of people would love this to happen.  Personally I don't want robots everywhere, especially smart ones that can do my job, impersonate me, or kill me.  I still get freaked out at how smart googles adsense program is.  Its coming to tv's soon, if it isn't already here.

It's is definately something to keep an eye on, especially since some of these robots are a reality now.

This is even more troublesome, since this is one of the companies that google acquired.

Bird Patterns

Having lived in east tn all my life, I witnessed something today I cant ever remember happening during this time of year before.  Right around dusk, I witnessed between 5 and 7 large flocks of birds heading due south.  Yeah, migrating birds aren't usually news; however, a couple things make this a bit unusual.  According to a couple bird watching website and migratory websites there should be no bird migrations in Tennessee occurring right now.

Second is I am fairly sure they were blackbirds, which are not migratory.  But still, birds?  I have been reading about some models that have produced some pretty nasty weather predictions lately, and while I understand how unreliable they are, especially in the east tn valley area, it makes me wonder if maybe the birds are a bit more in the know?  I remember the stories of the animals during tsunamis that run inland and upland before the tsunami hits.

It's never a bad thing to turn to observe nature, as a species we have lost our instincts.

UFO Sightings on the uptick.

If you follow any types of UFO sightings, you are more then likely familiar with the website of MUFON.  While browsing through their website, I came across a link to a real time UFO tracking website.  In addition to the graphs and other sort of data I enjoy parsing though, it has a map.

UFO Stalker is phenomenal as in how it is setup.  You can view the whole world, look for clusters of sightings, landings, or actual alien encounters as well.  Seen a weird light in the sky?  You can go look near your location, determine if anybody else saw it, or just add your own information.

It was here some of the graphs are indicating a nearly 22% increase in sightings from last month, and 30% increase from the same time last year.   Youtube is actually getting some decent videos up on some sightings as well.  Some I can describe away as either Chinese lanterns, or out of focus cameras, some I have no idea what they are.  When looking for videos, I try to find some that have news stations reporting them, as these tend to be a bit more reliable due to the vetting process some news channels use before airing material.

Some on this video are explainable, some are not.  However what I see may not necessarily be what another sees, so its up to each person to make their own determination of what is "real" or not.  If you ever see something, a lot of peoples first instinct is to just stop and stare and watch it.  As a people, we need to change that instinct to grab your phone and record it.  Try not to zoom in too far and distort the picture, try to keep the talking to a minimum, and try to hold your hands steady as possible.

Personally, I have had a couple of experiences I can not explain away.  The first was way back when Mars was making its close approach.  I was in my back yard, with a telescope and a camera and was taking some long time exposures of Mars.  My daughter who wasy 9 or 10 at the time ask me about this light.  I look up and see this orb drifting across the sky.  I think nothing of it, until I hear jets coming in from the direction of the airport.  At this point the orb dashes off at an incredible speed, with some jets attempting to pursue.  My neighbor saw it too, and we talked about it for a few minutes.  I made a report on NUFORC.com.  One case of sitting there with a camera mounted to a telescope and I did nothing.

My second experience was a few months ago.  Driving home we heard a noise and slowed down and this green light started shining into the window.  We could see it across our faces, in the trees, etc.  I took off pretty quick, as we were in the middle of no where at the time.  I am familiar with the area and there was no houses, roads, etc that could have produced that light.

Good luck with the UFO sighting, and never be afraid to talk about or post about your encounters.

Sky sounds are back

As some may or may not be aware of, for the past 4-5 years there has been a rash of noises heard in the sky that have been unexplained.  Some sound like a trumpet, some like metal grinding together, and others have not really been identified.  Some, such as the one in Oklahoma, are starting to get news coverage.  Theories abound as to what the sounds are, ranging from Fracking, to aliens, to even HAARP.
I have heard the sounds twice personally.  Once was last year and the noise sounded like something large digging underground.  It was actually reported on social media and a few message boards by lots of people around the same time.  The other time I heard it was about a week ago, while going out to start my car, and hearing the trumpet sound.  The two toned version.
One note of warning, there are a lot of hoax videos out there, the most common types are those that use the alien noise from the War of the Worlds video.  As always, whenever anything interesting happens, people attempt to create hoax replications, thus ruining the research for others.

Hubble finds new object

Apparently after the hubble was brought back online, it found a new object. Scientist are not aware of what it is, where it came from, or where it went.

For those confused, its the black dot in the cross hairs of the right hand picture.

Maybe this ties into this story about aliens. Since it disappeared, perhaps it popped out of hyperspace long enough to get their bearings. I new they should have taken that left turn at alpha centuri.

The monauk monster

The montauk monster, as the critter is being called, washed up on shore near montauk new york. For those not familiar it off Long Island.

As of yet, nobody can say what it is. Of course everybody has an opinion. It's been called an alien, sea creature, turtle without a shell, experiment gone bad, etc etc. People have claimed there is an animal experimentation center near there and the creature was one that got lose.

Funny thing is, this would have gotten some press no matter where it washed ashore. However due to where it washed ashore it gets a bit more.

See Montauk military base suppossedly was the site of various secret test involving time travel, alien contact, etc. The philadeplhia experiment is tied into it, as are the origins of the MiB and other secret stuff that everybody knows about, but is still secret.

Whatever it is, it is a nice change of pace to look at.

Astronaut believes UFO's are real

Dr. Edgar Mitchel, formerly of NASA and the Apollo program is coming forward to declare UFO's are real.

Yet another mainstream person making this declaration. In addition to this, Larry King has always done a good job with his UFO interviews, handling them with respect and dignity. It seems no more are UFO fanatics being laughed and ridiculed at, but are becoming more and more accepted. Sure there will always be those that cannot believe that there is aliens, but who cares, those that believe will always believe, and those that don't will soon know the truth.

When they land on earth, in prime time and the tv, everyone will believe.

Missing bee's

Where have all the bee's gone? For that matter bugs in general, birds, butterfly's, and lighting bugs. This has been a dismal year for looking at wildlife. I don't get serenaded at night anymore by crickets and jar fly's. There are no majestic flocks of birds singing outside my door anymore. I haven't been stung not once this year(except by a sweat bee, but that doesn't count) and haven't even seen mosquitos.

Has something changed in the environment? One popular theory is a mite that is infesting bee colonies and killing them. Another is they are leaving before doomsday. Regardless of what or where, there is a problem that there is not enough bee's pollinating. Some domestic bee owners have used their bees to help farmers. As if farmers haven't had enough problems with drought, flooding and other issues.

Keep an eye out, pay attention and it will become obvious something has changed in our ecosystem.

Weather weather weather

Had the potential for big storms yesterday, they went away. I am beginning to wonder if Knoxville is cursed or something. Can watch on radar how they part to go around Knoxville.

Record year for tornadoes it looks like, and flooding. The earth is getting tired of us humans. Tornadoes in Minnesota and Wisconsin yesterday. That just seems odd to me for some reason. I could see snow, but tornadoes just seems off.

More deaths this year due to tornadoes then any other year, or so they say.

Its the moon

People people people, the police have much more important things to do then chase UFO's that are actually the moon/venus. To help identify the difference, here are some basic differences.

The moon is large, and has craters. It is also fairly stationary throughout the night. UFO's tend to be flighty and fast. Sometimes they hover. Its honestly rather hard to confuse the two, but people somehow tend too.

The UFO community is made fun of enough, without having basic astronomy issues being thrown in the mix.

Earth incidents

Haven't updated in a while, sorry about that. Right now weather and earth related events are taking front and center in the world. 200k dead in Myanmar, 7.8k dead in china, 20+ dead in the US.

First is the Myanmar tragedy, 200k people is a large amount, and there will be more dying as supplies and relief takes time to get there. Just today the first US relief started to arrive. Such a tragedy, and it really took a lot of the world by surprise. I generally follow weather pretty well, and I was caught flat footed.

Earthquakes are all over the place recently, in places they are not normally known for. Reno is just now ending a 9 week period of tremors and sustained activity. Sometimes referred to as "swarms". As of the moment writing this, the USGS home page has shown nearly 300 EQ world wide. The most prominent of these at the moment is the massive 7.9 in China.

Last is the tornado's and flooding from this weekend. Last count had 20 dead from storm related deaths.

The earth seems to be going through changes, or protesting something. Hopefully things will not get worse, but with storm season now in full swing, and hurricane season on the horizon, its doubtful.

More quakes

More quakes are occurring almost daily, and the active hurricane season has now started. Including a tropical storm that went to hurricane status overnight, then slammed tExas this morning. Is the earth trying to tell us something?

More quakes

A 7.9 Earthquake rattled Peru last night, killing over 300 and injuring 1350 as of now. This earthquake also triggered a tsunami.

Yet another EQ of devastating magnitude in such a short time. Is it a reflection of the weird weather, or is the weird weather a sign of something wrong with the earth? Since this quake last night, 13 more 5.0+ quakes in that area have occurred, and some more in the Aleutian islands near Alaska of more then 5.0 magnitude.

Almost like that area of the world is about to split.

Weirdness August 15 2007

Wacky earth weather abounds today. Record highs in the south, over 180 Earthquakes over 7 days world wide, two active hurricanes, and probably a volcano somewhere. Okay, the volcano hasn’t been confirmed, but just wait, there will be one sooner or later. Here in Tennessee it is supposed to reach a sweltering 98 again. Its our 15th or 16h straight day with temps in the 90’s. Some places have it worse, but most of them are places that are used to it.

The tropical depression in the gulf is headed for Texas, and this after all the flooding there from a few months ago. Tropical storm Dean is expected to reach hurricane strength Thursday, and threaten the Virgin Islands. Hurricane Flossie is harassing the Hawaiian Islands right now, and this after a few earthquakes shook them up.

And from across the pond, UFO sightings are up in England. I only have one request, carry a camera with you everywhere. As many people that have cameras nowdays, you would think somebody would get a good picture.

Some tips on what to do if seeing a flying saucer:

  1. Point it out to everybody, once everybody is looking, grab your throat and fall to your knees claiming they are in your lungs.
  2. Take a picture. But be sure to shake the camera and not hold it steady. Blurred shots are expected.
  3. Make sure your chewing tobacco is in. Aliens hate tobacco, an you will more then likely not get kissed this way.
  4. Don’t call the news stations or police. They will likely just humor you, and we really wouldn’t want verified witnesses.

All joking aside, try to get as many people as possible to witness the phenomena, and as many as possible to take pictures.
